This article was written for my master's course, Writing for Strategic Communication, at American University. The goal was to assess the qualifications of the original writer, their goals, and their target audience.

Soleli Ho, the author of the selected op-ed is a veteran journalist whose focus is on food, culture, and events in San Francisco. Given that San Fransisco is in the midst of an identity crisis, her work on the ground is vital to the city and the paper, highlighting the unique and still vibrant lifestyle available in San Fran. As an award-winning food and culture critic, Soleli has been reporting on culture for fifteen years and has a vested interest in the well-being of her city.

Although her columns are not strictly political, this article revolves around feminism and its meaning. More specifically, it discusses the use of pseudo-feminism and how Democrats are guilty of using women, like Dianne Feinstein, as established props to further their agenda. Living in San Francisco, Soleli also has first-hand experience with the failings of the democratic leadership in the city and the state. Despite billions being spent on the city, little has changed for the better, so naturally, she's got a bone to pick with the Dems.

While it praises Feinstein for her past work, Soleli uses her as an example of impotent leadership, citing her lack of action recently when it comes to city health, as well as the approval of Justice Amy Coney Barrett. Although the article criticizes democratic leadership, the targeted audience is the heavily democratic population of San Francisco. It's point is to emphasize the importance of authentic feminine leadership, which is essential to democratic voters, and to show the hypocrisy of establishment Dems in California.
